Catherine Engelbrecht’s tale has all the markings of a classic conspiracy theory: She says she thinks that because of her peaceful political activity, she and her family was targeted for scrutiny by hostile federal agencies.
Yet as news emerges that the Internal Revenue Service wielded its power to obstruct conservative groups, Catherine’s story becomes credible — and chilling. It also raises questions about whether other federal agencies have used their executive powers to target those deemed political enemies.

Honorable Ladies and Gentlemen:
The Albany Police Officers Union condemns and opposes the New York Secure Ammunition and Firearms Enforcement Act (the SAFE Act). Substantively, we believe that it violates fundamental constitutional rights, that it is unduly and purposely burdensome on law-abiding citizens, and” that it will not deter criminals or menially ill individuals from plotting and carrying out bloodshed and violence. Procedurally, we believe that the way in which the bill was rammed into law via an unjustified and expedient “message of necessity”, which circumvents the right and the ability of the citizens of this State to voice their concerns about the bill and have them addressed, is an outrage. This flawed law and the way in which it was rushed and passed, shows the apparent contempt that those who govern have for the governed, and calls into question whether we truly have a representational government. Morally, we believe that this law is about ideology and politics and not about making anyone any safer. We respectfully demand that you do the right thing and repeal the law.
SYRACUSE, NY (WSYR-TV) - Nationally known gun advocate Sheriff Mack was in Syracuse on Saturday to lead a rally calling for the repeal of New York’s Safe Act. A former Graham County sheriff in Arizona, Richard Mack’s appearance drew 1,500 pro-gun enthusiasts to the Inner Harbor.
Sen. Charles SchumerWhen I go shooting with friends, we head out into the desert and inevitably we admire each other's firearms and swap 'em for a try to compare their accuracy, feel and overall abilities. That makes us criminals under the "background check" bill currently under consideration in the U.S. Senate. Sen. Charles Schumer, who proposed the measure, has packed his legislation full of legal snares virtually guaranteed to turn gun owners into lawbreakers. That's an impressive little sleight of hand for legislation considered to be the only sort of gun control with a chance to make it through Congress.
A state Supreme Court judge on Wednesday denied a motion for a preliminary injunction of the state's new gun-control law. A group of more than 1,200 plaintiffs representing themselves sued the state on the grounds that Gov. Andrew Cuomo and the Legislature's process for passing the law on the first day of session violated the state constitution.
Albany, N.Y. (WKBW) - It is a big day in State Supreme Court, Wednesday. Opponents to New York's new gun law hope their argument will be enough to strike down the law. There were more than 1200 signatures collected from counties across the state questioning the SAFE Act. Now, it is heading to court.
nvestigators looking into the death of Jennifer Morbelli in Maryland from a legal abortion have discovered that another woman also died from a second-trimester abortion in the state, but it was never made public until now.
Jennifer McKenna Morbelli, a 29-year-old woman from New Rochelle, New York died from a botched 33-week abortion on February 7. The medical examiner’s office confirmed a botched 33-week abortion killed the young woman.
Orlando, Florida – A young Florida mother that had considered aborting her 26-week-old son recently returned to the abortion facility with her baby to thank the sidewalk counselor for encouraging her to choose life.
John Barros, a Christian who has been sharing the Gospel with abortion-minded mothers for over two years outside of Orlando Women’s Center in Florida, told Christian News Network that he is in complete amazement at how God has worked in the lives of a couple named Chet and Amanda.
We just completed week one of our seventh 40 Days for Life campaign at Goshen Planned Parenthood on Wednesday. The Kickoff Rally on Feb. 13 was wonderful. The Lord gave us a beautiful, sunny day.
Many of you have heard we were told that "Goshen Planned Parenthood wouldn't be there much longer." We are not sure what that means exactly. I'm sure we have a different idea of what "not much longer" means than others would. My idea of not much longer is arriving at Goshen Planned Parenthood tomorrow morning and seeing a big U-Haul truck in front of Planned Parenthood! So please pray and fast that this campaign will be the last one for Goshen Planned Parenthood.
On Thursday, one of four bills introduced in the Senate saw some minor movement. The bill, which bans "straw purchases" of guns — or buying a gun for someone else — was passed by the Senate Judiciary Committee.
Last Saturday when Chuck and I were at the gun show in Saratoga, Albany County District Attorney David Soares was attending a gun-control rally outside. I caught up with him and asked him what he was doing there, since it’s out of his district. The rally was supporting a ban on assault weapons and large capacity magazines. So I asked him straight up, how many of the cases his office prosecutes actually involve these so-called “assault weapons”. Here is what he told me:
