Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee Sued for Discrimination
VisiontoAmerica.org
A former staff member of Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee (D-Texas) has filed a discrimination lawsuit against her.
The suit, brought by Jackson Lee’s former legislative director Mona Floyd, alleges the lawmaker deliberately ignored her staffer’s vision and reading disability by forcing her to work long and extended hours with no breaks.
At two separate points, Jackson Lee allegedly told Floyd, “I don’t care anything about your disability,” and later when asked about making adjustments to accommodate her disability the lawmaker allegedly told her chief of staff, “I don’t give a damn about her disability,” according to the lawsuit filed in the U.S. District Court for D.C.
Jackson Lee’s office said the lawmaker supports equal employment but that it was not planning to comment on matters pertaining to inner-office affairs.
“The office of U.S. Representative Jackson Lee considers internal personnel matters confidential and will not comment publicly on the allegations at this time, except to say that the office fully embraces and fully practices equal employment opportunities for all,” said chief of staff Glenn Rushing, in a statement.
Democratic Party distributes racist flyer? Shuns all white and hispanic candidates
soitgoesintexas
The Harris County Democratic Party (HCDP) recently distributed a campaign flyer supporting select Houston-area judicial candidates. The HCDP flyer indicates that the included candidates are "our Candidates for Judge."
It's interesting to note that all of the 19 HCDP-highlighted candidates are African American. Not one of the approximately
51 White, Hispanic, or Asian candidates were included in the "our Candidates" list by the HCDP.
A coincidence? An oversight? If it is, then the flyer represents, at best, egregious insensitivity at a time when any opposition to Democrat policies garner an accusation, by said Democrats, of being a racist. If the exclusion of non African American candidates is not a coincidence or an oversight, the advertisement is racist.

The fine print at the bottom reads: "Pol. Adv. paid for by the Harris County Democratic Party." The HCDP address is listed, then the disclaimer: "Not authorized by any candidate or committee."
Are Whites More Discriminated Against Than Blacks?
A post-racial America? Think again.
According to a new study conducted by sociologists at Harvard and Tufts universities, American whites believe that they are more discriminated against than blacks. Respondents were asked to rate ‘racism’ against both groups on a scale from one to 10. Of the 209 white and 208 black men and women surveyed, the results were telling. According to Mail Online,
…while both blacks and whites saw anti-black racism decreasing over the decades, whites saw race relations as a ‘zero sum game’ where they were losing out as blacks ‘gained’ the advantage.
The study found that, on average, blacks noticed anti-white bias increasing when comparing the 1950s to today. Taking into account the same time frame, blacks also saw racism against themselves steeply decline. Whites, though, reported very different perceptions:
For the 2000s, 11 per cent of whites gave anti-white bias the maximum 10 out of 10 rating, compared with only two per cent of whites who did so for anti-black bias.
Whites believed that discrimination against them had increased from an average of 1.8 in the 1950s to 4.7 in the 2000s.
Researchers looked at other studies that seemed to indicate that whites typically view any focus on minorities as an attack on white peoples’ values. It should be noted that the pool of individuals included in this study was relatively small. Many researchers seek to survey 1,000 respondents at minimum to ensure that the results are truly representative of the broader society (or cohort).
If these results are true, race continues to be an issue worthy of discussion and debate in contemporary American society.
