Cadet Mark Rosen was sworn into the US Army (Infantry Branch) as a Second Lieutenant on May 23, 1984 at USMA.  His first assignment was with the 82nd Airborne Division.  He then served for over 15 years in the Active US Army where he had the opportunity to serve in various command and staff positions, where he qualified for the US Army Ranger Tab, and the Master Parachutist and Expert Infantryman Badges.  On November 23, 1985 he was promoted to 1st Lieutenant and on July 1, 1988, 1st Lt Rosen was promoted to Captain.  In 1992, while still on active duty, he was selected by the US Army to attend Harvard University, in order to earn an MPA; he was subsequently assigned as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Social Sciences at West Point to teach Cadet Students matriculating at the US Military Academy.  Cpt Rosen was promoted to Major on September 1, 1995.   In 1999, while assigned to the Pentagon serving in the Army’s Strategy, Plans and Policy Directorate, he was assigned to a cell that focused on improving the nation’s national security strategy and defense capabilities.  Maj Rosen then completed his tour of Active Army service and on October 9, 1999, he resigned his active Army commission and accepted a commission in the US Army Reserve

In his first assignment in the US Army Reserves, he was assigned to provide support for the Admissions Diectorate at the US Military Academy at West Point.  On November 18, 2003 Maj Rosen was promoted to Lieutenant Colonel.  On August 14, 2007, Lt Col Rosen was assigned as Secretary to the General Staff (SGS), HQ, 77th Regional Readiness Command, in Fort Totten, NY.  On May 15, 2008, Lt Col Rosen was assigned as Executive Officer (XO) of the 800th Military Police (MP) Brigade based in Uniondale, NY.  He was recalled to active duty on November 7, 2010, in support of Operation Enduring Freedom and deployed to Afghanistan on November 21, 2010 where he managed a team of experts in the Counterinsurgency Advisory & Assistance Team (CAAT) providing analysis and recommendations to General David Petraeus, USA, who at the time was the Commander US Forces, and Commander of the International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) in Afghanistan.  In that role, Lt. Col. Rosen had the unique opportunity to observe, advise and assist at both the tactical and strategic levels and then make recommendations to COMISAF based on his and others’ assessments on how to improve  counterinsurgency operations.  He returned from combat duty in Afghanistan on April 22, 2011 and was released from active duty in May 5, 2011; Lt Col Rosen’s awards include the Defense Meritorious Medal, the Meritorious Service Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster, the Army Commendation Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster, the Army Achievement Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster, Afghan Campaign Medal with Campaign Star, the NATO Service Medal for Afghanistan, and various service and campaign medals.  Since May 6, 2011, Lt. Col. Rosen has been assigned to support the Department of Social Sciences at the US Military Academy as a Reserve Individual Mobilization Augmentation-assigned Instructor serving among mostly Active Duty Instructors, instructing Cadets at West Point.

In the private sector, Lt. Col. Rosen is a successful businessman.  He is currently the Senior Vice President of Strategic Initiatives at Adecco Group North America based out of Melville, NY.  Adecco is the largest staffing and recruiting company in the world.  Being in the recruiting industry, Lt. Col. Rosen has seen firsthand the impacts of economic distress across a myriad of businesses and industries and understands what it takes to grow jobs.  Additionally, in his current role, he initiates and manages complex process reengineering projects that assist in increasing revenue, reducing costs and improving productivity.  Lt. Col. Rosen has also held positions as Vice President of Strategic Sourcing at JP Morgan Chase, as well as, Practice Director for Strategic Sourcing at Andersen Business Consulting.  Over the years, Lt. The Combat Veteran’s For Congress PAC is pleased to endorse Lt. Col Mark Rosen who would bring to Congress extraordinary public sector and private sector skills and wisdom to better solve problems and represent his district and the country.  If you review Lt. Col. Rosen’s positions on his Web site, you would be pleased with his stands; they agree with the Combat Veterans For Congress Mission Statement.  We look forward to working with Lt. Col. Rosen, and are pleased that a Combat Veteran of his caliber is running for Congress.  If you have friends, associates, or relatives who know voters in the 18th Congressional District of New York, kindly pass this E-mail on to them, and ask them to support Lt. Col. Rosen by working in his campaign, providing financial support for his campaign in any amount, and/or by networking with others who would be willing to support his campaign. The military is one of the few remaining institutions producing the caliber of men and women needed to restore this nation to the greatness our Founding Fathers envisioned.  We have endorsed another Combat Veteran For Congress that General George Washington would have approved of.  A Veteran is someone who, at one point in his life, wrote a blank check made payable “to The United States of America” for an amount “up to and including his life.”

Combat Veterans for Congress PAC Endorses Mark Rosen for Congress

mark rosen

The campaign is pleased to announce that the Combat Veterans For Congress PAC has endorsed Mark Rosen for US Congress to represent the 18th Congressional District in New York

Regarding the endorsement, Mark Rosen made the following statement:

I want to thank all those at Combat Veterans For Congress for the honor of their endorsement. Many have served before me in much more stressful conditions spanning not only the Global War on Terror but across both World Wars, the Korean War, the Vietnam War and other conflicts. We should never forget the sacrifice of all those who preceded us. It was an honor and privilege to be able to serve and contribute in Afghanistan in even a small way—but I note that service with great humility given the sacrifices of the true heroes that have served before me—many of whom continue to serve selflessly.

Additionally, the Combat Veterans For Congress PAC has been very effective in supporting veterans in past elections to include our own Chris Gibson who is now Congressman in the 20th Congressional District of New York. The organization’s values and my own are very much aligned—focusing on fiscal responsibility, limited government, and economic growth.

I thank the Combat Veterans For Congress for this honor.
