The production schedules on most animated series (South Park not included) are incredibly long. How long? Well, a week ago, Saturday Night Live did a sketch about Occupy Wall Street that already felt uncomfortably dated meanwhile, this week, Family Guy got around to doing a whole episode on the Tea Party. Remember those guys? They wore silly hats and mattered for about an election and a half? Yeah, well, they finally got their due last night on that bastion of liberal propaganda that is Fox…Entertainment.

More than 500 Catholic men recently walked a mile in the rain in Peoria, Illinois. Their mission was to show the community their willingness to defend their Catholic faith against the threats being posed by the new Obama mandate. Why? Because, as Peoria’s bishop Daniel R. SOUTH BEND, Indiana, April 23, 2012 (LifeSiteNews.com) - After an IRS complaint from an secularist group and other criticism, Peoria Bishop Daniel Jenky is now facing a petition by Notre Dame faculty to have him removed from the Catholic university’s board of fellows.
The action comes in response to a strongly worded homily denouncing President Obama’s HHS mandate, in which the bishop said that in his attacks on freedom of religion the president “seems intent on following a similar path” as past totalitarian dictators such as Hitler and Stalin.

Many insurance plans already cover it, and for those whose plans do not, low-cost riders are often available. Access to contraception is not threatened. The question Americans face is whether or not the federal government has the power to force people to purchase a product which violates their consciences and the free exercise of their religion, contravening the First Amendment of the United States Constitution.

“I have videos, this election we’re going to vet him,” new media mogul Andrew Breitbart proclaimed at this year’s CPAC event.
Breitbart was, of course, referring to clips that allegedly show President Barack Obama during his college days — videos that the media leader claimed would show “why racial division and class warfare are central to what hope and change was sold in 2008.”

Mailed from the same Cincinnati, Ohio IRS office, these letters have reached Tea Parties in Virginia, Hawaii, Ohio, and Texas (we are hearing of more daily). There are several common threads to these letters: all are requesting more information from these independent Tea Parties in regard to their nonprofit 501(c)(4) applications (for this type of nonprofit, donations are not deductible). While some of the requests are reasonable, much of them are strikingly onerous and, dare I say, Orwellian in nature.

One is made up of hardworking families who believe that what matters -- or should matter -- are their good efforts, minimal government intrusion in their lives, and a fair but free enterprise system that incentivizes small businesses and doesn't countermand that incentive by imposing a burdensome tax liability.
The other revolution is made up of people who believe that both government and those who are successful in life owe them something; that the United States should be a nation of equitable distribution, and not one of free enterprise. Sadly, the polling tells me that these two nations within one are meeting in the middle. They don't share beliefs, but they are sharing similar frustrations.

SOMETIMES, attention should be paid to the absence of news. America’s economic miseries continue, with unemployment still high and home sales stagnant or dropping. The gap between the wealthiest Americans and their fellow citizens is wider than it has been since the 1920s.
And yet, except for the demonstrations and energetic recall campaigns that roiled Wisconsin this year, unionists and other stern critics of corporate power and government cutbacks have failed to organize a serious movement against the people and policies that bungled the United States into recession.

The Marist poll actually oversample Democrats compared to Republicans by 8 points, and oversamples both of them with Independents. (There has been a rise in Indy voters, but not to the tune of almost 40% of the population. Using historical trends, the anticipated 2012 Voter Turnout rate is 36% D, 36% R, 28% I. The activists, representing Tea Party groups from around the state, want Perry to either sign an executive order or call the Legislature back into a special session to enact a ban on so-called sanctuary cities. They also want him to eliminate a policy that they say discourages the state police from enforcing federal immigration laws.

I don’t want to repeat a lot of the great points that Erick has made already about the McConnell “contingency deal.” The proposal is a dereliction of duty and everything that we all hate about Washington. It punts responsibility at exactly the point when Republicans want Americans to give them more. The Club for Growth has announced that we oppose the McConnell-Reid-Pelosi deal and we’ll be Key Voting against it for multiple reasons.

"Marie and Charles" (whose names have been changed) have dumped TEANewYork for our refusal to give Mark Grisanti a pass over his reneging on his commitment to defend marriage. Marie says "Mark is a good man and no I don't agree with everything he does or think, its called individualism," and went so far as to complain to the Tea Party Patriots (!) that TNY is being too tough on Mark, apparently because we've determined that he needs to be replaced. I explained that this is not about individualism, this is about representing his constituency. You and I have the luxury of individualism, but as an elected representative, Mark does not, at least not without facing opposition. That's just the reality of political life. As much as we like Mark, forgive him his indiscretion, and appreciate him individually, we feel we deserve representatives who honor their campaign commitments. Or maybe we don't, if Marie and Charles' opinion is any gauge.

Michele Amble was born on April 6, 1956, in Waterloo, Iowa, the second of four children and the only girl. Her childhood was modest. Her parents owned a small home and rented out the top floor for income. Her father was studying to be an engineer. When Michele was four, the family moved into a three-bedroom rambler. “It was probably lower middle class,” she said, “and then, as families do, we moved up to middle class.” She was baptized and raised in the Lutheran church.

He pushed for religious protections, but Sen. Greg Ball, R-Putnam County, declared he will be voting no on same-sex marriage. (We expected this.)
From Ball:
“Knowing that marriage equality was likely to pass, I thought it important to force the issue of religious protections. Over the past few weeks, I’ve had the distinct opportunity of listening to literally thousands of residents, on both sides of this issue, by holding an undecided stance. I thought it was important to listen to all of my constituents and hold an undecided position until the actual bill language was written and everyone’s voice had been heard. Now that the final text is public, I am proud that I have secured some strong protections for religious institutions and basic protections for religious organizations. The bill still lacks many of the basic religious protections I thought were vital, and for this reason, and as I did in the Assembly, I will be voting ‘no.’”

Brighton, N.Y. --- In the last two weeks alone various polls have showed Republican Gubernatorial candidate Carl Paladino trailing Democrat Andrew Cuomo by as many as 37 points and as few as 13 points. Political tags — such as royalist, communist, democrat, populist, fascist, liberal, conservative, and so forth — are never basic criteria. The human race divides politically into those who want people to be controlled and those who have no such desire. The former are idealists acting from highest motives for the greatest good of the greatest number. The latter are surly curmudgeons, suspicious and lacking in altruism. But they are more comfortable neighbors than the other sort.

With just eighteen days remaining in what has been by far the most bizarre yet entertaining election for Governor of New York in memory, the Republican-Conservative candidate -- Carl Paladino, a highly successful Buffalo businessman and attorney -- has pretty much blown it by allowing himself to be cast in the role of a nutjob.
Cast in the role of hero and savior is the Democratic-Working Families Party (read: ACORN front) candidate, state attorney general Andrew Cuomo.

Similar to Saul on the road to Damascus, Bruce saw the light – that conservatism is best for all people, especially minorities. He said that the miners would be dead if they followed the Tea Party's "every man for himself" philosophy. This is incomprehensible. This is along the lines of that review at Salon.com of the movie Secretariat. There's nothing in the movie to be mad about, nothing in the movie to detest, nothing in the movie to be angry about or even threatened by. But now the rescue of 33 men who had been under the surface of the earth for 69 days and these people look at this in terms of the Tea Party versus the Democrat Party or socialism versus conservatism or what have you? The miners would be dead if they followed the Tea Party's every man for himself? That's not what the Tea Party is all about, that's not what the conservative movement or conservatism is all about. I don't know if you took the time to learn how they organized themselves in that mine. It actually is quite fascinating what they did to survive, and they had one leader that everybody invested their hope in and they trusted him, he was a natural born leader, and it all worked out. But to say that they would have died if they had been implementing Tea Party philosophies? |

The nation’s third most-populous state faces a projected $8.2 billion gap next year, only three months after legislators closed a $9.2 billion deficit for the current fiscal year. Paladino’s Democratic opponent, Attorney General Andrew Cuomo, also says reduced spending is needed.
