After weeks of speculation, Assemblyman Steve Katz (R-Yorktown) will officially announce on Monday that he will primary state Senator Greg Ball (R-Patterson) for the 40th Senate District seat, his spokesperson Ed Kowalski confirmed.
Katz, who was voted into office as the representative for the 99th Assembly District in 2010, made his consideration for the state Senate seat known back in February. He formed an exploratory committee and met with Senate Majority Leader Dean Skelos (R-Rockville Centre) before scheduling his official announcement.

The establishment is at it again trying to determine who we get to have as our choice in the upcoming election. It is well known that a group of constituents are trying to draft Assemblyman and Tea Party member Steve Katz to primary the establishment candidate and current state Senator Greg Ball for his Senate seat. The candidate for the Republican spot on the ticket this November should be determined by a primary election, not by a deal made by insiders.

For Republican State Sen. Greg Ball of Patterson, the Southeast stop of his legislative road show began and ended off-script.
For starters, when the senator arrived shortly before 7:30—the Southeast Town Board’s appointed hour to convene Thursday evening—he was forced to join staff and a rapidly growing number of constituents confined to the town hall lobby. Closed doors denied everyone access to the John Dunford Civic Center auditorium, where the town board sat sequestered in an unscheduled, apparently unannounced executive session.

WASHINGTON — Among this year's primary battles in New York, the contest between political consultant Jay Townsend and former CIA agent Gary Berntsen is the most obscure. There's a good reason for that: The two Republicans are competing to run against Sen. Charles E. Schumer, one of the half-dozen Senate Democrats considered least likely to lose their seats in November, according to the nonpartisan Cook Political Report. Overall, 19 Senate Democrats are up for re-election this year.
You will be hearing more from Gary Berntsen the man to beat Chuck Schumer. If you have friends throughout the county who do not like Schumer and they want him out please forward information about Gary onto them. ~ C4F

Rochester, New York . . . July 20, 2010 – At a press conference today in Rochester, the New York State Republican Party and its Chairman Ed Cox, joined by United States Senate Candidate Gary Berntsen, launched a website devoted to informing New Yorkers why re-electing Democratic Party Kingpin Chuck Schumer to the U.S. Senate would cause further damage to the Empire State, its economy, job market, and our hard-working families. The new website, www.ChuckingSchumer.com, cites Schumer’s record during more than 30 years in government as a self-serving, media-obsessed political creature who puts politics first at the expense of the people he was elected to serve.

Although he has never before ran for political office, Malpass carries impressive credentials in the world of finance. He is president of his own research firm, Encima Global, which investigates world economic trends. He is the former chief economist for Bear Stearns, which had a second place ranking for institutional investors during 2005 through 2007.

The last time Gary Berntsen went after such a formidable adversary in hostile territory, he was commanding a small band of fellow spies and commandos in pursuit of Osama bin Laden in Afghanistan after 9/11. After helping drive the Taliban from power, they tracked him to the mountains of Tora Bora, only to see him slip away.

When ex-CIA officer Gary Berntsen began campaigning for the First District congressional seat in January, he wowed GOP activists, touting his undercover career in which he claimed a part in 700 kills.
But at his final screening two weeks ago, Berntsen surprised party officials when one asked why he hadn't considered using those national security credentials to run against Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand. According to those present, Berntsen said, "I wouldn't run against Gillibrand. I'd run against Chuck Schumer."
That offhand response has led Berntsen, with the backing of Suffolk GOP chairman John Jay LaValle, to switch directions. He is now crisscrossing the state speaking to party leaders about what many might consider "Mission Impossible," unseating the veteran and well-heeled Schumer, who has $21.8 million in his campaign coffers.

Republicans in New York's Senate and some Democrats are "white supremacists" angry that the chamber is now run by "African-Americans and Latinos and women and gays," a Democratic Brooklyn senator said Wednesday.
"You have these ... long-term white supremacists ... Republican senators, who you know have been in the majority for a long time," Sen. Kevin Parker said on Errol Louis' show on WWRL radio in New York. "They've lost the majority. You now have a number of African-Americans and Latinos and women and gays running the Senate and they have a real problem with that."
